Manchester City could be set to part ways with an attacker once the January transfer window opens, with reports suggesting Borussia Dortmund lead the way in the race to agree a deal.
The news comes after widespread interest in the player, who – due to injury – has featured in only 13 English Premier League matches since the start of last season.
He now finds himself on the verge of an exit with his replacement already lined up and looking likely to join in the opening days of the new year.
According to the Independent, talks have not yet taken place between the two clubs, contrary to reports in Germany that say a loan deal is on the verge of completion.
When asked about the situation in a press conference, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that he has no news regarding the January transfer window, which could see the club allow Oscar Bobb to leave.
Oscar Bobb’s injury woes
The 22-year-old fractured his leg at the end of last season’s pre-season and has found minutes hard to come by this season.
Bobb has made only five Premier League starts so far this campaign – none since October – and seems set to be allowed to leave Manchester City in the coming weeks.
Interest from Crystal Palace and Newcastle has been rumoured, though Borussia Dortmund look set to win the battle for the Norway international, who, according to reports in Germany, will join on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
Making room for Semenyo
It is a deal that could be accelerated by Antoine Semenyo’s proposed move to the Etihad Stadium, with his departure from Bournemouth seemingly imminent.
Talks between City and The Cherries advanced quickly on Monday, with Semenyo appearing to wave goodbye to the Bournemouth fans after Tuesday night’s draw away to Chelsea.
Despite this, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola expects him to be available to face Arsenal on Saturday night.
He added, “I hope he continues playing the same way. There is a lot of noise around him, but my worry as a coach is that he can keep up the performance level he is having.
“It’s not his last game here with us. I cannot say 100%, but I think he will play (against Arsenal).”
