Manchester United have reached an agreement with former Red Devil Michael Carrick as their interim head coach until the end of the English Premier League season.
Carrick rejoins the club having managed three games in the period between the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.

The former United midfielder appeared 464 times for the club, scoring 24 goals across 12 years.
It is understood that Solskjaer was also interviewed for the role – one that he won permanently following a successful interim spell in December 2018.
These long-standing connections mean the new boss has reportedly earned significant backing from the owners, something that never quite felt assured during Ruben Amorim’s tenure.
Carrick also has good existing relations with the squad, who are in dire need of some motivation after things broke down under Amorim.
A monumental improvement on last season’s record low 15th place finish has United flying at the dizzying heights of seventh after 21 games played, just three points adrift from the top four.
The underlying issues remain, though, as they have posted just one league win in their last six, ultimately resulting in the sacking of Amorim after just 14 months at the helm.
Carrick better than your typical interim manager?
Carrick’s lack of Premier League management experience should not deter fans, as this was a man being touted for a spot in the top flight not too long ago.
His early success as Middlesbrough boss saw him win 16 of his first 23 games and take the club from the relegation zone to fourth. However, failure to achieve promotion saw him relieved of his duties in June.
His progressive style of play and player development skills have gained him many plaudits, and whilst it would take miracles for him to land the job permanently, a good showing could open the door for more coaching opportunities down the line.
Being part of a United dressing room that won five Premier League crowns and a Champions League means Carrick will know what a successful team looks like from the bottom up.
Such experience should also command a healthy amount of respect from a squad within touching distance of the Champions League places.
