Nottingham Forest will look to qualify for the UEFA Europa League Last-16 in style, as they host Turkish giants Fenerbahce, on Thursday night.
The hosts are in free fall domestically, but will hope to continue their good European form and secure their third successive major European victory for the first time in over 40 years.
New boss Vitor Pereira is the fourth manager to take charge of Forest this season and began his tenure with a resounding 3-0 victory in the first leg of this tie last week.
His side pushed Liverpool all the way in their latest English Premier League match too, but eventually succumbed to a 97th minute winner, meaning it is now no wins from their last four league matches.
Last week’s win in Istanbul would have come as a shock to many, given that Fenerbahce are yet to lose a Super Lig match so far this season.
However, such is the difference in quality between England and Turkey’s top divisions, Forest ran out the comfortable winners
Thursday’s visitors are unbeaten on the road since September, though have failed to progress in all of their 26 European knockout matches in which they have lost the first leg.
What are the best bets for Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahce?
I expect this match to be a far tighter affair than last week’s first leg and that is mainly because Forest don’t need to find goals.
However, Fenerbahce boast attacking quality in abundance, not least through Marco Asensio and Karem Akturkoglu.
Should they score an early goal then this tie will open up and for that reason, I am going to back both teams to score.
I’ll also add Akturkoglu to find the net, as he is Fenerbahce’s joint-top-goal contributor in this season’s Europa League.
If Forest are to score, it is likely going to be scored by Igor Jesus as no player has scored more Europa League goals than him so far this season.
