Liverpool face a trip to Istanbul on Tuesday night, as they take on Galatasaray in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.
It is the second time this season that these two sides will meet at Rams Park, as they have already faced off in the League Phase of this competition.
The hosts ran out 1-0 winners of that game, courtesy of Victor Osimhen’s first-half penalty, in a match that saw the start of Liverpool’s autumn capitulation.
Manager Arne Slot’s Reds will arrive in Turkey having qualified automatically for this stage of the tournament by way of their third-placed finish in the League Phase table.
Liverpool remain in a fight to finish in the top five of the English Premier League table, but will pause their domestic endeavours to face a Galatasaray side who have lost just two league matches this season.
Tuesday’s hosts are top of the Turkish Super Lig, as they look to secure their fourth-consecutive league title.
Manager Okan Buruk’s side overcame their bottom-half finish in the League Phase of this tournament to defeat Juventus 7-5 across their two-legged Knockout-Playoff clash.
What are the best bets for Galatasaray vs Liverpool?
Over 2.5 goals
I expect that this clash will be anything but boring, as two teams that are assured to attack each other go head-to-head.
Eight of Galatasaray’s last 10 matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored, and they have found the net at least three times in eight of their last 13 European home matches.
With that in mind, taking over 2.5 goals in this game looks to be a solid selection, especially when you consider the attacking quality in Liverpool’s side too.
Osimhen to score
Hugo Ekitike has enjoyed life after cementing himself at the head of Liverpool’s frontline; he has netted 11 Premier League goals in his debut season.
However, he has scored only twice in the 2025/26 Champions League, so it may be worth backing Galatasaray’s Osimhen instead.
Only three players have scored more Champions League goals than the Nigeria international this season.
Over 4.5 cards
There were eight cards shown in the League Phase match between these two sides, and I expect more of the same aggressiveness in this game. I’m backing over 4.5 cards to be shown.
