West Ham‘s bid for Premier League survival will face a stern test on Saturday, as they take on title-challengers Manchester City.

The hosts occupy the final place in the relegation zone, though they will arrive at this game looking to secure back-to-back Premier League wins.

Last weekend’s win over Fulham saw the Irons draw level on points with Nottingham Forest, to go just one point behind Tottenham, in the race to avoid relegation.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will hope to continue their upturn in form since the turn of the year, in which they have lost just two of their last eight Premier League games.

Manchester City will return to domestic action following a battering in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie with Real Madrid.

Manager Pep Guardiola’s side lost the match 3-0, meaning that they will face an uphill task when the two sides meet in Manchester next week.

Before that, however, City will be keen to erode the gap to Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, which currently stands at seven points.

Last week’s draw with Nottingham Forest didn’t help matters, as City now look to get back to winning ways.

A spirited West Ham isn’t an easy side to face, and they have proved that in recent matches, by losing just two of their last eight Premier League games.

The Irons were unlucky to lose away to Chelsea, and there is certainly no shame in losing to Liverpool at Anfield.

Having said all that, Manchester City have the power to turn it on at any given moment, so I’m backing them to win.

The visitors are unbeaten in seven Premier League matches, and with a Premier League title race at stake, they should have too many gears for West Ham.

Both teams to score, Erling Haaland to score

The hosts will make it difficult, so I’ll back both teams to score, as it has also happened in four of the last five head-to-head matches between these two sides.

Erling Haaland will almost certainly find the net in this game too, given that he has scored eight goals in his last five matches against West Ham.

City will be without Guardiola after he was booked in last weekend’s FA Cup win over Newcastle, where it looked like he was about to unleash a right hook on the fourth official.
