Man City vs Liverpool picks, predictions and how to watch

Man City to win

Both teams to score

Combined odds: +182 with FanDuel

Manchester City host Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals as domestic football resumes in England following the international break.

The hosts are looking to record consecutive cup victories either side of the break, having defeated Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final two weeks ago.

It came after they suffered humiliation in the UEFA Champions League, being knocked out of the competition by Real Madrid, who defeated them by a 5-1 aggregate.

Manager Pep Guardiola’s side have also forfeited ground to Arsenal in the Premier League title race, so the FA Cup could be their only chance to add to their Carabao Cup success this season.

Liverpool will arrive in Manchester following a run of games that has seen them record inconsistent form.

Manager Arne Slot’s side are winless in their last three Premier League matches, but they became one of only two English sides to progress into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Reds defeated Galatasaray 4-0 at home to overturn the one-goal deficit from the first leg of the tie in Istanbul.

What are the best bets for Man City vs Liverpool?

Man City to win

It goes without saying that these two sides are two of the best in England, but they have both shown vulnerabilities in recent weeks.

Cup ties tend to bring out a more competitive edge to matches, rather than a cagey affair in which teams can tactically hold out for a point.

If you insist on picking a result, then I’d say City hold a slight edge in this match, with Liverpool a bit of a mess off the pitch.

Mohamed Salah has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season, and Slot’s future has come under scrutiny, following a lacklustre Premier League season.

City have also won both of this season’s Premier League matches against Liverpool.

Both teams to score

I expect that both teams will find the net in this match, given that it has happened in three of City’s last five home matches and three of Liverpool’s last five away matches.
