Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca exhibited a positive demeanor in his press conference ahead of a bid for a first trophy win under his regime against Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday.
Maresca also stated that despite star striker Erling Haaland experiencing a slight niggle, he’s very much available for the highly-anticipated curtain raiser.
With Bernardo Silva having left the club in the summer, Maresca emphasised that although new signing Elliot Anderson will have a different role to play in the team, his impact will be a notable one.
Anderson’s influence
“It’s a big challenge,” Maresca told Sky Sports. “Bernardo has showed how good he is on and off the ball over the years.
“But Elliot [Anderson] has arrived. We are completely sure Elliot is going to do a great job for this club, no doubt about that.
“They are different players. But we’re going to try to use Elliot in the best way for him and for the team.
“There is a change in this moment. But we need to be good enough to find solutions for the team. We’re going to try to do our best.”

Haaland ready
“[Erling] is ok. He had a small thing behind the heel. But he’s ok.
“Everyone is fit, but we know some of them have just arrived two days ago,” Maresca added.
Fernandez joining?
“I have to give you the same answer since day one,” Maresca said regarding the club potentially signing Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez.
“It will always be the same. It’s a player from another club and I don’t think it’s correct to speak about other players. I’m not going to say anything about players who aren’t with us.”
A style for fans to buy into
“It’s important that we continue to grow and improve. Pre-season has been good.
“Now we need to compete, win games, win titles. I want to see high spirit and the right mentality,” Maresca concluded.
