Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of the majority of the 115 financial rule breaches brought against the club by the Premier League.
The Athletic claims that an independent commission has reached its verdict, while sources have told BBC Sport that Man City were found guilty on all but one of the charges.
Crucially, the sanctions have not yet been determined.
City maintain neutral position
The Premier League have declined to comment on the reports, with Man City also stopping short of confirming or denying the verdict.
Instead, the club released a statement reiterating its position that the case remains ongoing.
“The Premier League process remains ongoing with significant elements to be completed and subject to strict confidentiality,” Man City said.
“The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League Board and Executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator free from partisan influence.”

Breaking down the charges
Man City were charged in February 2023 following a four-year Premier League investigation into alleged financial rule breaches between 2009 and 2018.
The allegations cover several areas, including claims that the club failed to provide accurate financial information relating to revenue, player and manager remuneration and sponsorship agreements, The Independent reported.
They were also accused of breaching both UEFA’s financial regulations and the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules as well as failing to cooperate with the investigation.
Man City have consistently denied all allegations and previously said they welcomed the opportunity for an independent commission to consider the case.
Sky Sports stated that the hearing took place behind closed doors between September and December 2024, with the independent panel subsequently taking considerably longer than initially expected to reach its decision.

Arduous process to continue
The next phase will concern sanctions, with no punishment having been announced at this stage.
BBC Sport has also been informed that Man City intend to appeal if the findings are upheld, meaning the long-running case is set to continue.
The club’s statement added that its position remains consistent with the response it issued when the charges were originally brought in 2023.
