Carabao Cup Round 4: Man City face Brighton test; Liverpool host Chelsea

Round 4 of the 2026-27 Carabao Cup kicks off on Tuesday, October 27, but most of the remaining Premier League sides will not take the stage until Wednesday night.

Manchester United, Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Tottenham, Leeds United and Hull City were among those eliminated in the previous round.

That leaves 13 clubs from England’s top division to compete for a place in the quarter-finals.

Of those sides, Arsenal will travel to Fleetwood on Tuesday, shortly after Bradford and Peterborough United kick off the round.

Man City face Brighton test; Villa travel to Bournemouth

On Wednesday, Manchester City will host Brighton in one of the biggest fixtures of the round.

Brighton, who have had a strong start to their season, with what has been arguably the Premier League’s most potent attack. However, they suffered a defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend.

Man City, meanwhile, saw Aston Villa end their perfect start to their season, handing them a 2-1 defeat and their first domestic loss of the season.

Villa will travel to the Vitality Stadium, where they will face a Bournemouth side that have picked up form, as Sunderland host Brentford, and Fulham welcome Crystal Palace.

Liverpool host Chelsea in another big fixture

In another huge game of the round, Chelsea head to Merseyside to take on an in-form Liverpool side.

Chelsea have had an inconsistent start to the season, and are coming off a 2-0 Premier League loss to Tottenham.

The Blues are likely to be without two key parts of their attack, with Cole Palmer suspended for the Liverpool fixture.

Joao Pedro, meanwhile, will need to be assessed further after missing the Spurs clash through injury.

Liverpool, as mentioned earlier, beat Brighton over the weekend. They are also on an unbeaten run, and will be hoping to make it five consecutive wins when they host Chelsea on Wednesday.

Everton and Newcastle will close the fourth round EFL Cup fixtures at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The next two nights are expected to offer tense and thrilling action, as 16 sides race for a place in the quarter-finals.
