Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka requires further scans to determine the severity of his recent injury.
The England international was forced off just 10 minutes into Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday after suffering a thigh injury.
With Saka now facing an uncertain future, Arteta must rally his troops for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Everton as the defending champions look to keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table.
Saka injury
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Arteta told Sky Sports: “[Saka’s] got another MRI this afternoon because he had quite a lot of fluid in the area, so it was difficult to understand the extent of the injury.
“We will know more probably tomorrow. We need a few more scans and opinions from the specialists.
“Obviously, when a player has to walk off the pitch and is struggling to walk without any pain and is restricted to movement, they are not good signs.
“Let’s be very patient so we can give a definitive assessment and then let you know.”

Congested calendar
Asked to give his thoughts on football’s increasingly congested calendar, Arteta added: “Obviously, the demands that we are putting to every player are immense.
“The amount of games, the intensity of those matches, the international competitions. The times between games as well are getting narrower.
“Look at us now. We have to play away on Sunday afternoon, then on Wednesday evening, then on Saturday.
“You go less than 66 or 67 hours between games on top of everything that we’ve put in. Every hour is important.
“If they can support the demands we are putting to the players, that would be really appreciated from everybody, for every team, because we know what we are demanding from these players.”
