Enzo Maresca is switching his focus to the next game after two “easy goals” saw his Chelsea side lose 2-1 to Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Following a dominant 3-0 win against Spanish giants Barcelona in their previous European fixture, Enzo Maresca’s side failed to walk away with a point at the Gewiss Stadium.
Joao Pedro’s first Champions League goal
Chelsea opened the scoring, with Joao Pedro scoring his first Champions League goal and his first goal since early November.
His goal allowed Chelsea to head into the break with an advantage, but that quickly slipped away when the second half ensued.
10 minutes into the second half, Atalanta’s Gianluca Scamacca found the back of the net, while Charles De Ketelaere gave them the lead in the 83rd minute.
Despite a few big chances gone askew, Chelsea were unable to add to their goal tally, with the result dropping them out of the top 10 in the UCL table.

Maresca speaks after Atalanta loss
Speaking to the media after the game, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca spoke on his team’s performance and insisted that the club would not dwell on the loss.
“After the goal we conceded we lost a little bit the control of the game,” said Maresca.
“The first half we scored the goal, we conceded some chances. The second half we had two good chances to score the second one, and then they scored.
“After it went 1-1 we lost a little bit the control of the game and they got the second one. I think both goals we conceded we could have avoided. They were quite easy goals.
“I don’t think we suffered too much until we conceded the goal. That changed the whole dynamic of the game. After the second goal we had an opportunity to score and level the game, but this is a particular moment for us and we just need to win the next game.”
Chelsea will return this weekend for some English Premier League action when they host Everton on Saturday, December 13.
Their final league stage UCL fixtures will be played in January 2026 against Pafos and Napoli.
