Chelsea and Burnley clash in a David-versus-Goliath-type English Premier League match on Saturday, with both teams competing for very different things this season.
The hosts are bang there in the race to secure UEFA Champions League qualification, sitting just one point behind Manchester United in the Premier League table.
New boss Liam Rosenior is doing a fine job in recovering form, following a disastrous run of games that saw Enzo Maresca spit his dummy out and lose his job.
Chelsea cruised past Hull City in an FA Cup match that turned out to be nothing more than a training session. They are also unbeaten in five Premier League matches.
However, they needed all of the second half stoppage time to defeat West Ham, before they were pegged back by Leeds despite going 2-0 up.
Any optimism Burnley generated by their away win over Crystal Palace last week was quickly disregarded, as the Clarets crashed out of the FA Cup at home to League One Mansfield.
That Palace match saw manager Scott Parker’s side end a 16-match winless run in the Premier League, but the table makes for grim reading, as the Burnley boss prepares to face one of his former sides.
Saturday’s visitors are nine points adrift of safety, and it’s hard to envisage any great escape with only 12 games to play.
What are the best bets for Chelsea vs Burnley?
Chelsea to win with a -1 handicap
I am always a big advocate for betting on teams to get something at Stamford Bridge, but I’ll make an exception here.
Burnley look to have a hopeless task in discovering any kind of form that would see them put up a fight for Premier League survival.
Only Wolves have picked up fewer points on the road than Saturday’s visitors. And with Chelsea needing a win to sustain their place in the top-five, I cannot see them adding to their tally here.
I’d take Chelsea to win with a -1 handicap, given that the Blues rarely struggle for goals, having netted at least three times in five of their last seven matches.
Cole Palmer to score two goals
The sheer size of Chelsea’s squad makes it difficult to highlight an individual player, as he may not start this match.
However, it should be relatively safe to say that Cole Palmer will feature from kick-off, and I’m taking him to score two goals.
The England attacker has scored four goals in his last two appearances, one of which saw him score a hat-trick.
