It’s FA Cup semi-final weekend, and all eyes will turn to Wembley as Manchester City take on Southampton for a place in the final.

Pep Guardiola’s side come into this clash in ominous form, having dismantled Liverpool 4-0 in the quarter-finals thanks to a hat-trick from Erling Haaland.

They’ve already picked up silverware this season, winning the Carabao Cup against Arsenal.

They also beat Arsenal 2-1 last weekend, and then added a 1-0 win at Turf Moor midweek to put them top of the Premier League, so the domestic treble is very much on, underlining just how dangerous they are right now.

Southampton, meanwhile, are the underdogs – but not pushovers.

They’ve already shown they can cause problems in knockout football, reaching Wembley after beating Premier League opposition in the two rounds prior in Fulham and Arsenal.

Historically, this matchup heavily favours City. They’ve dominated the head-to-head record, with 18 wins to Southampton’s four, highlighting the gulf in consistency and quality between the sides.

Still, cup football always leaves room for surprises – especially at Wembley – and Southampton are here on merit.

Both have one eye on their league places too, with City hunting yet more silverware and Southampton chasing down promotion back to the Premier League.

What are the best bets for Man City vs Southampton?

Man City to win

It’s hard to look past City here.

They’ve been dominant across all competitions, scoring freely and controlling games with ease.

Their squad depth and attacking firepower are simply on another level compared to Southampton.

Add in their experience in big matches and Wembley occasions, and it’s difficult to see anything other than a City win.

Man City to score 2.5+ goals

City’s attack has been relentless for years now.

They put four past Liverpool in the previous round and regularly create high-quality chances against any opposition.

With players like Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and Rayan Cherki all contributing, they have multiple ways to break teams down and create chances.

I think Southampton will struggle given the volume of pressure and chances City will generate, especially on a big pitch like Wembley.

Rayan Cherki to score or assist

Rayan Cherki has become one of City’s most dangerous creative outlets this season.

He’s already registered multiple assists in this FA Cup run and continues to deliver in big moments, whether scoring himself or setting up teammates.

Against a Southampton side likely to sit deep, Cherki’s creativity between the lines could be the key to City breaking through.

Cherki has already made Wembley his playground once this season. He ran the show against Arsenal in the League Cup final, and I back him to do the same here.
