The Premier League Matchweek 28 Saturday slate is serving up some absolute belters. Predicting them? Slightly less enjoyable. But in the spirit of optimism, I’m going to give it a go anyway.

The less said about last Saturday’s results, the better. In fact, I’d like to formally announce a temporary embargo on all things Burnley. For legal reasons (and emotional stability), I will not be discussing them for the foreseeable future.

Still, those chaotic results are exactly why the Premier League is the best league in the world. It’s dramatic, unpredictable, occasionally cruel – and we keep coming back for more like it’s a toxic ex who plays a high press.

Let’s hope for some better luck this week as I take you through my parlay picks for this Saturday…

Bournemouth to win vs Sunderland

Saturday, February 28 (7:30am ET/ 12:30pm GMT)

Sunderland looked underwhelming against Fulham last week – and that might be putting it kindly.

More concerning for Régis Le Bris is the injury list that started growing faster than a transfer rumour on deadline day.

Nordi Mukiele, Jocelin Ta Bi, Nilson Angulo and Brian Brobbey were all forced off during their 3-1 defeat. Even if a couple recover in time, that’s hardly ideal preparation heading into a tough away fixture.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, are strong at home and far more consistent. Combine that with Sunderland’s shaky away form and recent struggles, and it’s hard to see past a Bournemouth win here.

Liverpool to win vs West Ham

Saturday, February 28 (10am ET/ 3pm GMT)

Liverpool needed a last-minute Alexis Mac Allister winner to edge past Nottingham Forest last week – because apparently they enjoy keeping their fans’ heart rates at dangerous levels.

West Ham, meanwhile, continued their quiet improvement with a solid draw against Bournemouth.

This one is tricky. Liverpool haven’t been flawless, but they’ve been resilient – and that counts for a lot at this stage of the season.

I’m backing them to edge it, though I wouldn’t expect a goal fest. If you’re feeling cautious, a double chance (Liverpool win or draw) might be the sensible play.

But since when has betting been about being sensible?

Newcastle to win vs Everton

Saturday, February 28 (10am ET/ 3pm GMT)

Newcastle’s 2-1 loss at the Etihad last week? No shame in that. That’s like losing at chess to a grandmaster – frustrating, but expected.

Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United was competitive, if not inspiring.

Both teams will feel they can get something here. Newcastle at St James’ Park are a different animal entirely; you always back them to get a result when at home.

Everton will likely sit deep and try to frustrate, aiming to nick something. But I think Newcastle’s quality edges it.

That said…a tiny part of me, ok, all of me, wouldn’t mind an Everton win purely to witness Jordan Pickford celebrating in front of the home crowd like he’s just won the World Cup. For entertainment purposes only, of course.

Man City to win vs Leeds

Saturday, February 28 (12:30pm ET/ 17:30pm GMT)

There was a time when adding Manchester City to a parlay felt automatic. Like brushing your teeth. Or regretting a 3am DoorDash order.

This season? They’ve tested our faith.

Credit to Leeds – their turnaround from a rocky start has been impressive, and they absolutely have the tools to cause problems.

But here’s the thing: City are in title-hunting mode. And when they flip that switch, they become terrifyingly efficient.

The closest comparison? The New England Patriots during the Brady-Belichick era. You knew what was coming. You couldn’t stop it. And by the fourth quarter, you were questioning your life choices.

City are inevitable. When the pressure is on, they rarely blink.

Last week humbled us. This week… We rise again.

Or we don’t. But at least we’ll go down swinging.

Let’s hope the soccer gods are feeling generous on Saturday. If not, I’m blaming Burnley again.
