Barcelona have had their £55 million bid for Rodri rejected, while Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has agreed a deal to join Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah.
Man City have considered both bids for Rodri under their evaluation of £60-million plus for the World Cup-winning midfielder.
For Reijnders, the transfer fee is reported to be around £51 million to join Al Qadsiah, leaving Man City after an indifferent sole season with the club.
Reijnders sale aids Fernandez arrival
“The Tijjani Reijnders news means Man City are making another major sale, they are bringing in over £100m in sales in this transfer window when you account for James Trafford departing and some smaller sales, such as Nathan Ake going to Turkey,” Sky Sports News’ James Savundra said.
“It means they are in a better position in terms of negotiating and what money they’ve got left to spend in this transfer window.
“If they do get big money for Rodri, you match up £70m with £50m and that gets you to £120m – which is what Chelsea want for Enzo Fernandez!”

Two new midfielders
Alongside Fernandez, Man City are looking into bringing Ligue 1 club Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi to the club.
However, with Fernandez being the premium transfer of around £120 million, Chelsea’s deadline of Friday at 5pm is what Man City will be primarily focused on completing.
Fernandez move unlikely
“Not today to be honest, I don’t think we’re going to do something today,” Man City boss Enzo Maresca said when asked about the deadline Chelsea imposed on the transfer.
Man City’s focus will mainly turn to Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal, which will act as a tone-setter for Maresca’s first season post the Pep Guardiola era.
