Marcus Rashford’s long-term future is becoming one of the biggest transfer stories in European football as the summer transfer window approaches.
The England forward is currently on loan at Barcelona, where he has impressed this season, but his future beyond June still isn’t certain.

Manchester United to move on from Rashford

Barcelona want him but face financial hurdles
Barcelona are keen to keep Rashford beyond his loan spell, and sources say they are in talks with United about how to make the move work.
However, the Catalan club are reportedly unwilling or unable to pay the full buy option price due to financial constraints, and are trying to negotiate a lower fee or a fresh deal that fits their budget rules.
Rashford’s performance in Spain has boosted his standing. He has scored and assisted regularly, helping Barcelona challenge on multiple fronts.
The forward has also publicly expressed his enjoyment of life at Camp Nou, admitting he wants to play as many seasons as possible there.
Barcelona’s willingness to trigger the buy option may depend on their finances and even on internal matters like the club’s presidential election, which could affect transfer priorities.
What it means for summer
For Rashford, the summer could bring a permanent exit from Manchester United. He has spent the past year out on loan – first at Aston Villa, then at Barcelona – and looks set to continue his career away from Old Trafford.
If Barcelona can agree terms with United and meet their financial requirements, the England international’s move to Spain could be sealed.
But if that falls through, other clubs or even a return to the Premier League remain possibilities.
