When is the FA Cup draw? Date, time, how to watch and numbers

The FA Cup fourth round is fast approaching, and attention now turns to the draw that will shape the next step on the road to Wembley.

With holders Crystal Palace already out, non-league representation still alive, and no replays from this stage onward, the competition could open up.

Here is everything you need to know about when the FA Cup fourth-round draw takes place, how to watch it, and which teams are in the hat.

When is the FA Cup fourth-round draw?

The fourth-round draw for the FA Cup will take place on Monday, January 12, at 1:30pm EST / 6:30pm GMT.

The draw will be conducted at Anfield and held before kick-off in the delayed third-round tie between Liverpool and Barnsley, meaning one place in the fourth round will still be listed as “Liverpool or Barnsley” at the time the balls are pulled.

How to watch the FA Cup draw in the USA and UK

For viewers in the United States, the fourth-round draw will be streamed live on YouTube, starting at 1:30pm EST / 6:30pm GMT. There is no dedicated US television broadcast for the draw itself.

In the UK, the draw will be shown live on TNT Sports, with additional coverage available via Discovery+. Fans can also follow the draw as it happens through live updates on major sports news platforms.

Who will conduct the draw?

The draw will be carried out by former England internationals Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole. Both players have lifted the FA Cup during their careers and will be on hand to pull out the 16 fourth-round ties live on air.

How does the FA Cup fourth-round draw work?

All 32 teams that progressed from the third round will be included in the draw. However, two ties were unresolved at the time of the ceremony:

  • Liverpool or Barnsley
  • Salford City or Swindon Town

Those placeholders will remain in the draw until their respective matches are completed.

From the fourth round onward, FA Cup ties will no longer be replayed if level after 90 minutes. Instead, matches will go to extra time and, if required, a penalty shootout. This change continues to raise the stakes for lower-league and non-league sides chasing another famous upset.

One of the standout stories so far has been Macclesfield, who are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition after stunning holders Crystal Palace in the third round.
