Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa will resume their domestic campaigns as the two sides clash in the 2025/26 Premier League on Sunday.

Forest will now welcome an Aston Villa side who are looking good in their race to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Manager Unai Emery’s side are six points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table, whilst they could yet win the Europa League – which would see them qualify automatically for the Champions League.

Villa will arrive at the City Ground having ended their winless run of four Premier League matches in their final game prior to the international break.

These two sides arrive at this game in very different Premier League form, though the league table doesn’t reflect it.

Nottingham Forest’s recent improvement has seen them climb out of the relegation zone, whilst Villa’s shaky run came to an end against West Ham in their latest match.

Both sides need a result from this match for different reasons, and for that reason, I expect a competitive affair in which both teams will score.

All four of the latest head-to-head matches have seen both teams find the net, though only one of these matches came at the City Ground.

Forest have been victorious in both of their latest home matches against Villa, and with their improved form, expect a big performance from them.

That being said, Villa also need to win this game, so I’m going to back the draw, in the expectation that both teams cancel each other out.
