The Premier League returns on Saturday means it’s time to spend hours researching your parlay, which will inevitably be let down by one pick.

After a brief FA Cup break – during which Burnley personally declared war against me – the Premier League returns. The fixtures look straightforward on paper, which of course means at least two of them will descend into pure chaos.

This week could be a huge chance to top up the kids’ college fund, as long as Burnley don’t get anymore bright ideas. I’m not at all bitter.

Anyway, here are my parlay picks for this Saturday’s action…

Aston Villa to win vs Leeds United

Saturday, February 21 (10am ET/3pm GMT)

After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Newcastle in a game that can only be described as an advert for VAR, Aston Villa are now free to fully focus their attention on finishing inside the top four and securing a Champions League spot.

Leeds United looked underwhelming, to say the least, against Birmingham, but I expect them to compete relatively well against Villa this weekend, although not well enough.

Villa will want to put the defeat behind them quickly, and it might be a case of bad timing for Leeds here.

Chelsea to win vs Burnley

Saturday, February 21 (10am ET/3pm GMT)

Chelsea have been nothing short of impressive under Liam Rosenior, yes they had a blip against Leeds, but they are certainly much improved.

With a top-four chase against Manchester United to play for, these are the sort of games where they are looking to stake their claim with a statement win.

B*rnley are very much the opposite; they are terrible. I know they beat Palace, but they aren’t exactly setting the world alight at the moment either!

Chelsea are a much different breed than someone like Mansfield, for example…who still beat Burnley anyway.

Brentford to win vs Brighton

Saturday, February 21 (10am ET/3pm GMT)

I, like many, at the start of the season, wrote Brentford off. I looked at the players they had lost, they lost their manager, and honestly, I thought Keith Andrews would be gone by Christmas.

But how wrong was I, and for that I apologise to Keith Andrews – not like he cares – but anyway, the point stands. Brentford are fantastic, and their impressive draw at the Emirates proves that.

Brighton, on the other hand, just seems to be coasting through this season. They are far too inconsistent, and that’s why I’ve backed Brentford here. Especially at home, I expect them to get the job done.

If you wanted to put the safety on a little bit, you could go double chance Brentford win or draw, but I was born dangerous – and with ADHD, according to my wife.

Manchester City to win vs Newcastle

Saturday, February 21 (3pm ET/8pm GMT)

Two away wins back-to-back is something that’s probably pretty alien to Newcastle fans, but this one is a step too far.

Factor in the extra game and travel Newcastle will have to complete before taking on City, and it’s hard to see them getting close.

Manchester City at home isn’t for the faint-hearted, as Newcastle saw in their League Cup fixture not too long ago, and I expect this might be a bit of a similar story.

City are, of course, trying to hunt down Arsenal at the top of the table, so any points dropped now would be a disaster.

Well, there it is. These are my picks for this Saturday. I promise you now if B*rnley ruin my weekend again, there is gonna be deep issues between their tinpot club and me.
