Saturday’s Premier League slate has that familiar feel…a handful of sides who should win, a couple who absolutely need to, and at least one banana skin lurking to make your parlay slip up.
There are no freebies in this league. Not in March, not when the table is tightening, and definitely not when half the teams involved are juggling pressure from all angles – European pushes, relegation scraps, or just the general chaos that comes with this stage of the season.
It’s not about reinventing the wheel here. It’s about backing quality, trusting matchups, and accepting that while things might get a little nervy along the way, the end result should fall into place.
Should being the important word in that sentence, anyway, here are my picks for this Saturday’s Premier League action.
Leeds vs Brentford
Saturday, 21 March (16:00 ET/ 20:00 GMT)
Leeds to win
Leeds at Elland Road are quickly becoming one of those teams you don’t really want to mess with unless you absolutely have to.
They might not always be pretty, but they’re organised, aggressive, and – crucially – they scrap for everything, like you have to in a relegation fight.
Brentford, on the other hand, are the definition of ‘fine.’ Not terrible, not great…just sort of there. And in games like this, just sort of there, usually isn’t enough.
Leeds have already shown this season that they can dig out results against decent opposition, and this feels like another one of those gritty home wins.
Brighton vs Liverpool
Saturday, 21 March (8:30 am ET/ 12:30 pm GMT)
Liverpool to win
Liverpool come into this one in slightly weird form, not bad…just unpredictable. A draw against Spurs last time out showed they can dominate spells and still leave the door wide open at the back.
Brighton won away at an injury-stricken Sunderland, but you could argue they weren’t worthy of all three points. Liverpool will certainly pose more of a threat.
Add in the fact Liverpool just smashed their way into the Champions League quarter-finals with a statement win midweek, and momentum suddenly feels like it’s swinging their way.
This has a Liverpool win with mild chaos written all over it.
Everton vs Chelsea
Saturday, 21 March (13:30 ET/ 17:30 GMT)
Chelsea to win
Yes, Chelsea just got blown apart by PSG in the Champions League, and they lost to Newcastle last weekend. But Everton aren’t exactly world beaters.
That Newcastle defeat was one of those frustrating performances where Chelsea had control but lacked the cutting edge. Against Everton, they should get more space, more chances, and fewer headaches.
Everton will make it scrappy, they always do, but over 90 minutes, Chelsea’s quality should tell.
