A Brighton player shields the ball and holds off a Sunderland player

Sunderland vs Brighton picks, predictions and how to watch

Brighton to win

Under 3.5 goals

Combined odds: +163 with FanDuel

Brighton travel north to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland this Saturday in the Premier League.

Sunderland looked to be turning around a couple of rough results with a point away at Bournemouth, followed by an important win at Elland Road against Leeds.

But a disappointing result in the FA Cup to League One’s Port Vale saw them crash out of the cup in embarrassing fashion.

Brighton themselves have been inconsistent for the majority of the season, but a win here would actually put them above Sunderland in the league table.

Sunderland are always a good bet when playing at home, they have only lost twice there all season after all, but injuries are set to play a major role in this one.

Regis Le Bris is missing several key members of his squad. If all those players were fit, Sunderland would be in great shape for a result here, but without them? Time will tell.

What are the best picks for Sunderland vs Brighton?

Brighton to win

Look, I’m a Sunderland season ticket holder, and I will have zero complaints about how this season has panned out. We have achieved the ‘magical 40 point mark’ and look set to be back in the Premier League next season.

That said, the current rate of injuries has really put a downer on the team lately. It’s been hard to gain any real momentum, and results reflect that.

Brighton are a very capable side on their day, just like Sunderland, but this really is a question of whose day is it gonna be.

At the moment, I can only see it being Brighton. With the amount of injuries to several key players Sunderland have, it’s gonna be an uphill task, and I think that hill is just a touch too steep.

Under 3.5 goals

Both teams are fairly solid defensively, so I wouldn’t expect goals galore in this one.
Especially when you factor in Sunderland’s poor attacking threats, it’s very likely this one will be low scoring.

You could be tempted by under 2.5 goals, but if Sunderland were to snatch a goal, the under 3.5 option still allows for a 2-1 win in favour of Brighton.
