who will be the 2025/26 premier league top goalscorer 12/08/2025 epl bets

Who will be the 2025/26 EPL top goalscorer?

Erling Haaland to be top goalscorer: 6/4 (SkyBet)

Mohamed Salah to be top goalscorer: 6/1 (SkyBet)

Victor Gyokeres to be top goalscorer: 13/2 (Bet365)

The 2025/26 Premier League season is almost upon us – and with it comes drama, history and passion as the 34th renewal of the modern league gets underway.

Last season saw Mohamed Salah run out the Premier League’s top goalscorer for the fourth time – equalling Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s record.

The ‘Egyptian King’ netted 29 times as part of a Liverpool side who went on to become Premier League champions for the second time in the modern era.

But with the summer transfer window almost at an end, Salah is sure to face fresh challengers to retain his accolade and become the Premier League’s all-time outright ‘Golden Boot’ winner.

Here, EPL Bets writer Callum Close explores the outright market betting market for who will be the Premier League’s top goalscorer.

Erling Haaland to be top goalscorer: 6/4 (SkyBet)

Manchester City’s frontman is the clear (6/4) favourite to become a three-time winner of the Premier League’s top goalscorer accolade.

After netting 36 times in his debut season, then 27 times the year after, the Norwegian claimed back-to-back ‘Golden Boot’ titles, though his hat-trick bid was halted last season.

His 22 goals were enough to see him finish third in the goalscorer standings, behind Salah and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The 2024/25 campaign saw Haaland average the second-highest (2) number of shots on target per 90 minutes – in the Premier League – as well as the second-highest recorded expected goals, with 22.

He is part of a Manchester City side seeking their seventh Premier League title in nine seasons, though their run of four consecutive titles was halted by Liverpool last season.

Their summer transfer business has seen City sign Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait Nouri, as well as AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

English goalkeeper James Trafford arrived from Burnley, due to a buy-back clause in his contract, whilst City’s attack has gained the services of French winger Rayan Cherki.

He will arrive from Olympique Lyon off the back of a season which saw him record the joint-most (11) assists in Ligue 1.

Though manager Pep Guardiola will see the departure of £100m signing Jack Grealish, as he moves to Everton on-loan.

Should Manchester City rediscover their dominance, Haaland’s short-priced favouritism is sure to be close to justification, especially considering Rodri is back to full fitness, with the Spanish midfielder often looking to find the forward with defence-splitting passes.

Mohamed Salah to be top goalscorer: 6/1 (SkyBet)

Liverpool’s title-winning season was spearheaded by the numbers recorded by Salah last season.

His 32 goals aided the Reds in becoming Premier League champions for the second time in the modern era – earning manager Arne Slot his maiden Premier League in his debut season.

Salah also recorded the highest number of assists (18) and highest number of expected goals (25.4)  in the Premier League last season.

The Egyptian winger will go into this season in search of becoming the outright record holder of Premier League ‘Golden Boots’.

Last season’s accolade was the fourth time in eight Premier League campaigns in which he finished the top goalscorer – drawing him level with Henry.

In his time on Merseyside, Salah has never scored less than 18 goals, finishing outside the League’s top five goalscorers only once.

He will be joined by attacking reinforcements in the shape of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, who will arrive at Anfield as part of a busy summer transfer window.

The £125m signing of Wirtz is one of two arrivals from German side Bayer Leverkusen, with defender Jeremie Frimpong arriving as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s successor.

Ekitike’s signature came at the expense of Newcastle United, as they search for a striker to replace the want-away Isak – with Liverpool seeing a bid rejected for the Swedish striker.

These signings only strengthen a Liverpool side looking to make it consecutive top-flight titles for the first time since the early 1980s.

Salah is sure to be at the heart of their attack once again and 6/1 could seriously underestimate the 33-year-old.

Victor Gyokeres to be top goalscorer: 13/2 (Bet365)

Manager Mikel Arteta is going into his sixth full season in charge of his former club and is sure to be desperate to bring the Premier League trophy back to North London.

His side finally have a striker and it comes in the shape of Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners played large parts of last season without a recognised striker due to both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus suffering injuries.

It was a position in which they were already light on numbers, after the departure of academy graduate Eddie Nketiah last summer.

Gyokeres notched an incredible 39 goals in 33 games for Portuguese side Sporting last season.

He also had the highest number of shots on target per 90 minutes, with an average of 2.6.

This was after he tallied an impressive 29 goals in 33 appearances the previous year, so his £57m transfer fee is more than justified.

He is one of two notable incomings at the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Noni Madueke making the short trip across London from Chelsea.

Having been runners-up in each of the last three seasons, Arsenal remain in search of their first Premier League title since their infamous ‘Invincibles’ campaign of 2003/04.

Although I think that they will fall short in their title bid once again, Gyokeres will add that much-needed firepower and 13/2 could see him overpriced.

Potential outside chances

Attacking midfielder Cole Palmer is one of three Chelsea players that I think have incredible value in this market, with new signings Liam Delap and Joao Pedro also considered.

Though I have highlighted Palmer (20/1 with Bet365) due to his tendencies to take set-pieces and his proven record of scoring goals in a Chelsea shirt.

In his two seasons at Stamford Bridge the Englishman has tallied 22 and 15 goals, and at only 23 years old there is improvement in him.

He also boasted the fifth-highest (17.3) expected goals in the Premier League last season, with the joint-seventh most shots on target per 90 minutes – 1.4.

Chelsea have bolstered their squad immensely over the summer with the arrival of eight first-team players, including Pedro and Delap.

Manager Enzo Maresca’s side will hope to kick on from last season, in which they won the UEFA Conference League – beating Real Betis 4-1 in the final.

They also destroyed UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain to win the inaugural renewal of the newly-revamped FIFA Club World Cup.

Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners, with Palmer scoring twice and assisting Pedro for the third.

I predict Chelsea to have a fine season and expect Palmer to flourish.

Sesko seems good value

Manchester United’s new signing Benjamin Šeško represents a 25/1 (Ladbrokes) chance to become the first player since Haaland to win the ‘Golden Boot’ in his debut year.

He will be the main man in the United attack, surrounded by new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo, as they look to recover from their worst ever Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, barring any developments in the Isak saga with Newcastle, Ektike is going to be Liverpool’s main striker.

The Frenchman netted 15 times for Frankfurt last season and scored in the FA Community Shield for his new side.

I think 25/1 (Ladbrokes) is brilliant value.
