As the curtain rises on the 2025/26 English Premier League season, the main focus of media attention will be at the top of the table – but for a variety of clubs the battle for survival will be just as fierce.

This campaign, the limelight shines on the newly-promoted clubs – Burnley, Sunderland and Leeds United, all of whom confront the alarming challenge of bridging the gap between the long-established Premier League clubs and the Championship. 

Although it is not just the newly-promoted clubs that should be wary. Several established sides have seen both key players and managers depart their respective clubs in this summer transfer window.

EPL Bets writer Ethan Pitts takes a look at this season’s outright market to see who is the most likely to get relegated in the forthcoming Premier League season.

Burnley to get relegated: 2/5 (Betway) 

After relegation from the top flight just over a year ago, Burnley bounced back at the first time of asking, managing a record-breaking Championship season – conceding only 16 goals in 46 matches. 

However, the Clarets come into the Premier League as the favourites to go down – and it is easy to see why.

Whilst both Leeds and Sunderland have enjoyed fairly successful transfer windows between them, Burnley have struggled to attract the quality you’d associate with top-flight survival. 

Kyle Walker could well be a difference-maker for the Clarets, but at the age of 35 it is evident the Sheffield-born right-back is far from entering his prime years. 

His recent exploits at both Manchester City and AC Milan in the last 12 months suggest the decline has already begun. 

The departures of both James Trafford and CJ Egan-Riley, to Manchester City and Marseille respectively, present a huge loss to a team who were so reliant on their defensive stability. 

Furthermore, the failure to tie down club captain Josh Brownhill to a new contract means Burnley have lost their top-goalscorer and most creative midfielder in the Championship. 

For these reasons, I would certainly not be against having a punt on Burnley to finish bottom of the Premier League this season – best priced at 7/4 at BetVictor. 

However, despite there being little to no value in this selection, I cannot see a way in which Parker’s team survives this season. 

Therefore, I will be taking Burnley to get relegated this season – best priced at 2/5 with Betway. I’d recommend including this in a forecast rather than a single due to its low price.

Brentford to get relegated: 7/2 (PaddyPower)

Brentford come into the 2025/26 Premier League season in rather unaccustomed territory – a club in transition, but also a team who could well be staring relegation in the face come May of next year.

The departures of both their manager Thomas Frank and their talismanic winger Bryan Mbuemo, to Tottenham and Manchester United respectively, signify an end to a successful chapter in the Bees’ Premier League narrative to date. 

The appointment of inexperienced manager Keith Andrews has certainly raised a few eyebrows – none more so than the bookmakers, who have the Irishman as the favourite to be sacked first at 4/1. 

This being his first proper managerial role doesn’t bode well for a team who has also lost its star player, and captain, in Christian Norgaard to Arsenal. 

Additionally, the rumblings of Yoane Wissa’s impromptu departure are not going away after the man from DR Congo has refused to train with the club in recent weeks. 

The loss of Mbuemo and the potential loss of Wissa mean Brentford lose two of the league’s most potent attackers, both of whom are borderline irreplaceable for a club of Brentford’s stature. 

This new era at Brentford could well be a very clever evolution, a passing of the torch between one young coach to another. 

Or it could be the complete opposite, a slow and painful unravelling from a risk that arguably didn’t need to be taken. 

The signing of Jordan Henderson does represent smart business, but unfortunately isn’t enough to sway me from the potential value that Brentford’s relegation holds in the outright market.

For these reasons, I will be taking Brentford to get relegated from the Premier League this season – best priced at 7/2 with Paddy Power. 

Crystal Palace to get relegated: 10/1 (BetVictor) 

Finally, we have the biggest longshot out of the three selections in Crystal Palace, who offer by far the best price out of the three.

Crystal Palace come into the 2025/26 campaign under an amplifying cloud of scepticism and concern. 

After a tumultuous summer of legal proceedings, the ambiguity of Palace’s European endeavours has severely impacted their ability to focus on recruiting new players, only signing Borna Sosa (£2.00m) and Walter Benitez (free) to date. 

Additionally, the future of their indispensable attacking midfielder, Eberechi Eze, remains well up in the air. As it stands, Eze is linked with a move North of London to Arsenal – a move priced at 4/6 on bet365.

Failure to retain their key players and acquire their targets leave the South-London club in potential peril, as right now the squad they have isn’t quantitative enough to compete in both the UEFA Conference League and the Premier League. 

The impact European Football has on a club shouldn’t be overestimated, especially a side entering the competition for the first time. And therefore the assertion that Oliver Glasner’s side may slide down the table this year is far from unrealistic, especially if this summer transfer window follows in the same trend it has so far. 

Therefore, I see great value in Palace’s 13-year stay in England’s top flight coming to an impromptu end nine months from now, best priced at 10/1 with Bet Victor.
