Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo is expected to move early in the January transfer window, with a Premier League giant close to agreeing a deal, according to reports.
Despite his contract running until June 2029, a move away from the South Coast is looking increasingly. The news likely following “positive talks on Monday,” according to Ben Jacobs.
According to reports, the structure of payment relating to Semenyo’s £65 million release clause was the topic of discussion between the two parties.
Bournemouth are hoping that Semenyo can make a farewell appearance versus Chelsea in the English Premier League on Tuesday night.
It is a move that has been accelerated by Ghana’s failure to qualify for AFCON, ensuring Semenyo stays in the UK rather than competing on his native continent.
According to Ben Jacobs on X, Man City are set to win the race for the 25-year-old’s signature. Semenyo also has garnered interest from Manchester United and Chelsea. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool were among those interested, but verbal terms have been agreed with City.

Semenyo signed for Bournemouth in January 2023 from Bristol City. The Ghanaian forward also spent time out on loan at Sunderland, Newport County, and Bath City.
The 25-year-old has bagged 31 goals across 107 Bournemouth appearances and has assisted 11 times. Semenyo has registered nine goals so far this season, too.

His departure comes at a bad time for Manager Andoni Iraola’s side. Bournemouth are winless in their last nine English Premier League matches.

Leeds are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches, whilst West Ham will fancy their chances at beating Brighton, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest.
The Cherries are already stretched thin in wide areas. Scotland international Ben Gannon-Doak recently suffered a season-ending injury in his side’s World Cup qualifier against Denmark.
It leaves David Brooks and Justin Kluivert as the only recognised wingers in Bournemouth’s squad.
