Tottenham ramp up interest in Man City duo Savinho and Omar Marmoush

Tottenham Hotspur have shown notable interest in Manchester City wideman Savinho throughout the summer transfer window, but the North London side are reportedly looking to top up their search for more forwards – with Omar Marmoush added to the list.

Spurs are looking to end the window with Savinho and Marmoush, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto.

The coup will be the most significant list of acquisitions of any team in Europe throughout pre-season, with Spurs already having spent £200million on starting players so far.

Savinho and Marmoush double-transfer unlikely

Savinho will most likely join the North London club, as the transfer has been heavily reported on over the course of the summer window, with the player ready to depart Manchester.

However, Man City will not want to lose their back-up centre forward as well, as losing both players will require two incomings of quality so late in the window.

Therefore, Marmoush looks set to stay in the blue side of Manchester.

First-team football not guaranteed

“Both players [Savinho and Marmoush] are essentially surplus to requirements at Manchester City,” Sky Sports News‘ Ben Ransom said.

“It’s been pretty apparent through the summer. Enzo Maresca has said that in the case of both players, they are very much entitled to stay and fight for their first-team place.

“But equally, he understands, a bit like James Trafford, when a player wants to play first-team football, and they’re not guaranteed the starting shirt, then the club, if they receive an offer that’s acceptable, will not stand in their way. That applies to both players.

“City would need to replace these players. They would definitely, I’d say, have to replace one. I think they would like to and would aim to replace two.

“But the transfer window is closing in less than a fortnight. These are big positions to fill so late in the window.”
